This bench belonged to my Great Grandfather. After 100 years of not being used and completely dilapidated, we resurrected it. And by “we,” I mean my Dad resurrected it.
Before
Unfortunately, I don’t have the very first before picture, when it came out of hiding. In this picture, Dad had already painted it, and was starting to work on the boards.
New boards were sanded down to fit, and stained a great espresso color.
A beautiful afternoon, and Dad with his tools. Does it get any better?
After
Here it is, all fixed up.
The matching Sunbrella pillows came from Orvis.
Please… come sit a spell and enjoy a sunny afternoon with me.

I just love what your dad did with this old seat. It’s beautiful. I have a couple of newer ones, only about 15-20 yrs old, but need to be repainted and reseated. I have been putting it off because I didn’t know what kind of wood to replace it with, and what kind of paint to use. Could you please share what you used. Thanks
