After breast cancer treatment (surgery, chemo, and radiation) ended, I wasn’t getting better. In fact, my health was declining. My (well-meaning) doctors told me that after everything my body had been through, it would take time to recover. I looked at my peers running in those pink ribbon 5k races and was like… um… something isn’t right.
One year later, I was FINALLY diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an Autoimmune Disease. At the time, it was a sigh of relief. I grabbed my new meds and expected to start feeling better immediately.
Only I didn’t.
The migraines… the IBS… the fibromyalgia pain… the cogfog… and especially the debilitating fatigue… my body was one hot mess.
Over the course of 8 years, my body declined to the point where I was so sick I had to resign from my 6-figure position.
I felt like I was a failure.
I couldn’t work.
I couldn’t take care of my family.
I couldn’t even take care of myself.
I had 8-10 doctors shrug their shoulders and give up on me. Or dismiss me.
I felt like I had no voice.
But I was determined to regain my life back.
I was determined to keep fighting.
Throughout my journey… all of the different doctors… all of the different protocols… I became committed to help ease this burden on the next generation.
I was determined to help those who are diagnosed with an Autoimmune Disease NOT have the same trajectory, and to be able to conquer Autoimmune Disease like a boss.
To not be a victim to Autoimmune Disease.
Because YOU CAN BE THE BOSS.
It’s time to turn the tables.
Here are the 5 steps to conquer Autoimmune Disease and the steps to help you get started on your journey and path to living a better life.
5 Steps to Conquer Autoimmune Disease
Let me make this perfectly clear. Learning how to conquer Autoimmune Disease isn’t about a cure. And while it is about getting healthier, it’s sooo much more than that!

By making certain commitments to your health.
And understanding it’s a process and not an overnight fix.
It’s about reversing the roles and instead of letting Autoimmune Disease be something that is happening TO you…
You are now the BOSS.
You call the shots.
These are the 5 steps:
- Learn the Autoimmune Disease 101
- Become Empowered and Partner with Your Doctor
- Start with Changing Your Mindset
- Understand You Have a Path to Healing

Are you ready to get started?
Learn the Autoimmune Disease 101
Sun Tzu said it best in the Art of War, “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.” The quote has often been paraphrased, “Know thyself, know thy enemy. A thousand battles, a thousand victories.”
I know I was guilty of this for so many years. I accepted everything at face value. I trusted my doctors when they said this was all they could do for me. I trusted that my doctors were giving me the right medicine. I didn’t even consider any other options.
Learning about Autoimmune Disease is going to be your foundation. Understand what it is, how it works, who it affects, and why.
I can’t tell you how often I hear, “It’s bad to boost your immune system with an Autoimmune Disease.” This is one of the biggest myths out there.
Without getting into all of the details, but Autoimmune Disease is happening because your body is inflamed, like a fire, and it’s trying to put the fire out. And your body is on overdrive. Your goal is to reduce the inflammation, which includes boosting your immune system. It’s myths like these that hold so many people back from even the basics.
Become Empowered and Partner with Your Doctor
What was I saying before… I’ve been dismissed by at least 10 doctors. My voice didn’t matter to them.
I was even given the wrong medication for 5 years.
This should NOT be the gold standard. And I’m doing everything I can to change that narrative for you.
What if I told you that your relationship with your doctor should be a partnership?
This is YOUR BODY.
This is YOUR LIFE.
Your doctor is just another human being who happens to have a lot of school and training under their belt.
But this is YOUR BODY.
YOU are the CEO here.
And as the CEO, you should expect a partnership with your doctor.
It takes some preparation, but it’s worth the time to cut through the red tape of years of frustration.
Start with Changing Your Mindset
When I started to implement dietary changes and lifestyle changes to focus on root cause healing, I completely dismissed the emotional component. I completely dismissed the mindset component.
And when I say mindset… what I’m NOT saying is… oh just think positive. If you are having a crappy day and a flare-up, just think positive! NOOOOO!!!!
It’s an entire shift in how you view yourself, Autoimmune Disease, and your relationship with it. It’s going deep and exploring some tough emotions. It’s peeling back the layers of the onions and really crying it out.
It’s implementing mental and emotional shifts so that instead of the duck’s feet padding furiously underwater, you are calm and smooth sailing on top of the water.
I wish I would have looked at mindset sooner.
I wish I would have even started with a mindset shift.
Don’t be like me.
Begin your journey with a better relationship with yourself and Autoimmune Disease.
Understand You Have a Path to Healing
When you get a papercut on your finger, what happens?
It starts to bleed, right?
Bleeding is your body’s natural response to the skin being cut open.
After the bleeding stops, what happens?
Ok… so you put a band-aid on it.
And underneath… that cut starts to heal.
And a few days later, you look at your finger and you can’t see where the cut even happened.
Your body is created to heal itself.
But Autoimmune Disease is complex.
It took your body YEARS to get to this dis-eased state.
It’s not going to be healthy again overnight.
It’s important to understand how your body got this way in the first place.
It’s important to understand that by looking at the root cause, you can start taking some positive steps along the healing journey.
It’s also important to understand that some of these lifestyle changes and choices may not be easy.
But seeing progress… seeing small steps in improving your health… and starting to actually FEEL even just a little bit better…
TOTALLY WORTH IT.
Optimize Your Health
I know that having an Autoimmune Disease can be a struggle. And to even think about optimizing your health may seem so far-fetched. But it IS possible.
Learning about drainage was such an eye-opener for me. In a nutshell, your diseased body is like a stagnant pond. Your goal is to get things moving and flowing again. To heal your gut and optimize your kidneys and liver and lymphatic system. To become that pristine body of water with beautiful lily pads and singing birds.
To not just change (and ditch) those lifestyle habits… but to get it dialed into such a place that your health really does become optimized.
And I’m here to tell you that you are not alone in this journey.
You have a friend.
And you have some amazing resources to help you get started and to help conquer autoimmune disease.
