After breast cancer treatment (surgery, chemo, and radiation) ended, I wasn’t getting better. In fact, my health was declining. My (well-meaning) doctors told me that after everything my body had been through, it would take time to recover. I looked at my peers running in those pink ribbon 5k races and was like… um… something isn’t right.

One year later, I was FINALLY diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an Autoimmune Disease. At the time, it was a sigh of relief. I grabbed my new meds and expected to start feeling better immediately.

Only I didn’t.

The migraines… the IBS… the fibromyalgia pain… the cogfog… and especially the debilitating fatigue… my body was one hot mess.

Over the course of 8 years, my body declined to the point where I was so sick I had to resign from my 6-figure position.

I felt like I was a failure.

I couldn’t work.

I couldn’t take care of my family.

I couldn’t even take care of myself.

I had 8-10 doctors shrug their shoulders and give up on me. Or dismiss me.

I felt like I had no voice.

But I was determined to regain my life back.

I was determined to keep fighting.

I know I was guilty of this for so many years. I accepted everything at face value. I trusted my doctors when they said this was all they could do for me. I trusted that my doctors were giving me the right medicine. I didn’t even consider any other options.

Learning about Autoimmune Disease is going to be your foundation. Understand what it is, how it works, who it affects, and why.

I can’t tell you how often I hear, “It’s bad to boost your immune system with an Autoimmune Disease.” This is one of the biggest myths out there.

I wish.

When I started to implement dietary changes and lifestyle changes to focus on root cause healing, I completely dismissed the emotional component. I completely dismissed the mindset component.

And when I say mindset… what I’m NOT saying is… oh just think positive. If you are having a crappy day and a flare-up, just think positive! NOOOOO!!!!

It’s an entire shift in how you view yourself, Autoimmune Disease, and your relationship with it. It’s going deep and exploring some tough emotions. It’s peeling back the layers of the onions and really crying it out.

It’s implementing mental and emotional shifts so that instead of the duck’s feet padding furiously underwater, you are calm and smooth sailing on top of the water.

I wish I would have looked at mindset sooner.

I wish I would have even started with a mindset shift.

When you get a papercut on your finger, what happens?

Your body is created to heal itself.

It took your body YEARS to get to this dis-eased state.

It’s not going to be healthy again overnight.
