Yeah… the commute down the stairs sure beats driving into the city every day and fighting rush hour traffic. And I will admit that there are days I get so entrenched in my work that I forget to get out of my PJs. I wouldn’t trade the ability to work from home for anything in the world, especially since I can be home for my Stepson as he finishes out high school and his teenage years.

My Work from Home Story

When I first started blogging, I was working full time and Pink Fortitude was more of a hobby blog. I had fun with it, and I took it seriously, but the bread and butter were from my full-time job.

In 2017, a health crisis forced me to resign. It was devastating. We were not prepared and we lost half of our family’s income overnight. It was a blessing in disguise as the crisis gave me time to focus on my health, spend more time with my family, and also build and grow Pink Fortitude to where it is today.

I had to learn to work smarter instead of harder, to juggle family commitments, and running a business, along with balancing latent fatigue issues. Everything I did to make money was done from my laptop and often times on the couch.

The Hustle is Real

All bloggers are different. All online businesses are different. Everyone who works from home or runs their own business from home is different.

And everyone’s reason to work from home is different. It can be due to a chronic illness, spending more time with the kids, or due to a financial/economic situation beyond your control, especially if you lost your job.

None of what I’m sharing is “get rich quick.” It is 100% pull yourself up from the bootstraps and work hard. If you love what you do, at the end of the day, the benefit of putting in the sweat labor is totally worth it! And it’s such a great feeling to watch those tens of dollars turn into hundreds into thousands and more.

If you’re in a place where you are considering a side hustle, or you want or need to work from home, these are my own personal top revenue streams and resources. My hope is that it gives you some great ideas and a great place to start!

Online and Work from Home Revenue Streams

These are my five income and revenue streams, along with the corresponding resources. There are so many different ways to make money from home. It’s a personal decision as to what is the best fit for you. I hope these resources help to stir up some ideas and inspiration for your own journey!

Blog

Yes, running a blog can be a lot of work. But it’s a great place to start, and having a website presence is a necessity these days. Just because you have a blog doesn’t mean you will make money. You need to set it up properly and make sure it is monetized. The nuts and bolts of starting a blog are beyond the scope of this article. These resources will help you to get started!

Grammarly

I wanted to be a writer ever since I could hold a pencil. But spelling and grammar isn’t always my forte. Grammerly helps to make sure that all of my writing is professional, whether it’s on the blog, email, social media, and especially when I’m outsourcing articles.

Milotree

I was late in the game to use Milotree but I’m so glad I jumped on board. It’s an inobtrusive pop-up to showcase promotions, social media channels, sales, and more.

Pink Fortitude Affiliate Program

Did you know that Pink Fortitude has an affiliate program? YES, WE DO! It’s super easy. You love our digital products – training courses, challenges, and printables. You share how awesome they are with a unique referral link. Someone purchases the digital product and you get paid 50%. It really is that simple!

Join Pink Fortitude’s Affiliate Program

SiteGround

SiteGround is the service that hosts my website. It’s reliable. My website is never down. And that is a huge concern I never need to worry about.

ShareASale

ShareASale is another great affiliate channel. Some of my favorite brands are on ShareASale and it’s so easy for me to promote their products and receive a commission in return.

Tailwind

Pinning on Pinterest is a science in and of itself. How many pins to pin a day… when to pin… what boards to pin to. Sigh… it gets exhausting! Tailwind is a Pinterest-approved vendor and automatically schedules your pins to your boards, and allows you to join tribes to share each other’s content. My Pinterest traffic has seen a 20% increase ever since I started using Tailwind.

Ultimate Bundles

Ultimate Bundles is my most favorite partner to work with! They sell top-quality eBooks, guides and printables from the top bloggers as different themed bundles. I receive commissions from both selling their bundles, and also from my own eBooks being in the bundles.

Training Courses

Fortitude.Academy

Creating a quality training course is no joke. It takes an epic amount of time, research, effort, recording, and promotion. The benefit is that your courses are out there 24/7 for everyone to access. I created Fortitude.Academy to take what I share and teach on the blog and amplify it for those who want to learn more in a video format. Some of my favorite classes are to teach employers and employees about Autoimmune Disease in the Workplace, along with workplace wellness, chronic illness, and gratitude.

Kajabi Training Course Platform

When I was first looking at platforms to host my courses, it was a toss-up. I chose Kajabi for a number of reasons and they have outperformed all of my expectations. They have an attentive customer service team and an interactive Facebook group. Their platform is a must-have if you are going to create an online course.

Demio Webinar Platform

There are so many different webinar platforms to choose from it was difficult to pick. Demio is my current go-to for all of my webinars and training course recordings. It’s easy to use and has all of the features you need for successful webinars and recordings!

Microphone

Not just for recording training courses, but for radio, podcasts, and summit interviews, my Blue Yeti Microphone gets a workout. It’s the gold standard microphone for anyone who wants great quality without spending a lot of money. It’s worth an easy upgrade if you are doing a fair amount of recordings.

Webcam

On the same token, yes, you can use your default webcam. But the quality is night and day when you switch to a stand-alone webcam. Just like the Yeti, the Logitech HD Pro Webcam is the gold standard for anyone who is starting out and wants great quality without spending a lot of money.

Physical Products

It’s always good to have a physical product (or several) in your repertoire, especially if you can sell them online.

Beautycounter

I choose Beautycounter skincare and makeup products because they are committed to a health and safety standard that goes well beyond what’s required by U.S. law: They have prohibited the use of more than 1,500 questionable or harmful chemicals through “The Never List™” — all while ensuring their products perform and that they’re as indulgent as any other luxe shampoo, lipstick, or oil in the market. It’s how I keep my youthful glow and put my best face forward. Every day.

Books

I wrote Thriving in the Workplace with Autoimmune Disease out of a very painful place in my career. Its sole purpose was to give others the resources that I never had. I self-published it on Amazon, and within 10 hours, it hit #1 in the Legal Disability and #3 in Autoimmune Disease categories. I was blown away at the response. Since then book sales have been consistent every month. They aren’t going to fund my retirement, but it’s a steady source of income.

Consulting

I don’t do a lot of consulting, and I pick and choose the gigs that come in. But I do enjoy working with companies and helping them with their HR, EEO, and Autoimmune Disease and disability issues.

I also work with companies to create sponsored posts on the blog. Again, I don’t do it often because I’m very picky about who I work with. But it’s another revenue stream to add to the mix.

Other

There are several other ways you can look at making some extra money.

You can sell items on eBay and Etsy.

Rakuten (former eBates) is an easy way to pick up a few extra dollars when shopping online.

I hope some of these revenue streams and resources help to inspire you as you create your own journey, side hustle, or full-time gig working from home!
