I’m a strawberry-a-holic. There. Now that we got that out in the open. There are mornings I can eat an entire pint of strawberries with some homemade superfood chocolate. Ohhh… I digress. We’re talking about strawberry santas here. Back to the totes adorbs.

Ok, seriously. How stinkin adorable are these little guys? I’ve seen them on Pinterest, but they are normally filled with sugar and dairy and that’s not my cup of tea. I wanted to figure out a way to make them for all of us who want a more allergen-friendly treat that isn’t full of sugar. The substitutions I made are now more mainstream than ever, complete with all-natural sugars. Speaking of… they are still really sweet even without all of that yukky high-fructose corn syrup.

Recipe Hacks

These Strawberry Santas are super easy to make, but there are a few hacks that will make your life much easier.

  1. Use a paper towel on the cut side of the strawberries to soak up the juice. Otherwise, you are going to have a big red juicy mess.
  2. Use a tiny dab of the frosting as glue for the pom pom on the hat.
  3. Use a piping bag or cut a small end off a plastic bag to pipe in the frosting. Scooping the frosting out of the container and spreading it on will not work. Trust me. I’ve tried.

Author Holly Bertone | Pink Fortitude

Ingredients

  • Strawberries we like organic!
  • Vanilla Frosting we like Dollop!
  • Mini Chocolate Chips we like Enjoy Life!
  • Mini Marshmallows we like Dandies!

Instructions

  1. Cut the tops off the strawberries so they are now flat bottoms. Make another flat cut about a third of the way from the pointed end to make the "hats."

  2. Place the cut ends of the strawberries on a paper towel to soak up the juices.

  3. Once dry, pipe the vanilla frosting on top of the strawberry.

  4. Place "hat" piece on top and press down slightly.

  5. Place 2 mini chocolate chips for eyes onto the frosting.

  6. Place a small dab of frosting on top of the hat (the "glue").

  7. Place a mini marshmallow on top of the hat to make a pom pom.
