Diffusers

If you used essential oils for one purpose only, it should be for aromatherapy. This is really where the oils shine. Diffusers are a great way to disperse the benefits of the aromatherapy, whether it’s for the home, in your car, or even to wear.

I’ve made the mistake of purchasing a diffuser that was difficult to open. You need to fill the diffuser with water and a few drops of oil, so you want to ensure it has an easy mechanism to operate.

For most standard size diffusers, fill with filtered water to the fill line, and add 5-10 drops of your favorite oil or blends.

Carrier Oils

You always want to exercise caution when applying essential oils “neat” – that is, by themselves. Carrier oils offer a way to apply essential oils in a safer fashion. A carrier oil is simply another oil, like olive oil, jojoba oil, or argan oil. They are great to use with roller bottles. When using carrier oils + essential oils in a roller bottle, instead of shaking to ensure it’s mixed properly, roll the bottle back and forth in the palm of your hands.

Bottles

When using essential oils, always use glass bottles, and never plastic. Clear glass will work, but the colored glass will help to maintain the integrity of the oils. I use bottles in all different shapes and sizes. Roller bottles for places like my head, neck, and feet; spray bottles for cleaning. The possibilities are endless!

Labels

If you are anything like me, you get excited to create something with your oils, but then totally forget what it is. There are so many different label options out there! They even have labels which help to repel water and oil, a must for working with oils!

Other Tools

I love my little bottle opener. I also use capsules when I take oils internally, and of course, don’t forget about storage and carrying cases.
