I don’t know about you, but this time of year, I’m a pumpkin spice-aholic! I could seriously be 24/7 pumpkin spice… anything! I’ve been wanting to make a pumpkin spice latte soap, and when Hubby announced he’s out of soap, I knew it was time to get out the DIY supplies. Mr. Green Beret Hubby loves my homemade soaps. He actually prefers them to store-bought.

About the Pumpkin Spice Latte Ingredients
Lye-Free
I love making homemade soap. I want my soap to be free of lye (a dangerous process to make) and made with all natural ingredients. It took a while to research different recipes and soap making techniques, but once I figured it out, I was shocked at how easy it is!
Pumpkin Puree-Free
I also chose to not use pumpkin puree. Some recipes use it. But here’s the thing… if you open up a can of pumpkin puree and leave it out, it will turn moldy. So I didn’t want to introduce that chance.
Essential Oils
I do love using Essential Oils in this soap. It really deepens the scent. Be careful with your cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg. They have strong scents and you only need one drop each for this recipe. The orange (or you can substitute citrus or tangerine) balances and brightens the scent.
Coffee Grounds
I debated about adding coffee grounds to this recipe. They don’t dissolve in water so I wasn’t a fan of having them go down the drain. But it’s not a lot and I don’t think a small amount will hurt. The coffee grounds act as an exfoliant and may help increase collagen production and prevent clogged pores.
Type of Soap Base
We have a lot of vegans in the Pink Fortitude family, so you can use shea butter suspension. Or goats milk suspension is lovely too for anyone else. The choice is yours. I like both bases equally.
Ingredients
The ingredients are as simple as making the soap. The measurements here are for 3 bars of soap.
Goats Milk Soap Suspension Base (nine squares)
Shea Butter Soap Suspension Base (if vegan) (nine squares)
Cinnamon Essential Oil (1 drop)
Nutmeg Essential Oil(1 drop)
Clove Essential Oil (1 drop)
Orange Essential Oil (7 drops)
1 TBSP Pumpkin Spice
1-2 tsp Ground Coffee
Directions
The directions look lengthy, but I spelled it out so you can follow the directions easy peezy pumpkin breezy.
The ratio is three squares of soap base per one bar of this size (3x2x1). So for example, if you want to make three bars of soap, you will want to cut out 9 squares.
The ratio is 10 drops of Essential Oil per one bar of soap. Use fewer (but not more) to your scent preference. The recommended ratio is one drop each of cinnamon, clove and nutmeg and 7 drops of orange.
- Cut out the desired amount of soap base squares.
- At half power, heat the soap in a large glass container or glass measuring cup at 30-second intervals. Depending on your microwave, this should take a total of 2 minutes give or take.
- Let cool for one minute.
- Stir and add the pumpkin spice, coffee grounds, and essential oils.
- Ideally, you will want to pour the soap mixture through a funnel into the soap molds. It helps to minimize the bubbles. But if you don’t have one and don’t mind a few bubbles, it’s optional.
- Pour almost to the top of the soap molds.
- Let sit for four hours at room temperature.
- Gently remove from the silicone molds.
That’s it! I broke it down into detailed steps, but honestly, it only takes like 5 minutes to make. SIMPLE! And there is no right or wrong amounts of ingredients. Use a little more or less as it works for you. Be sure to heat only the soap in the microwave, you only want to add the essential oils after it cools for a minute.
