The linen closet is always the bane of my existence.  As much as I like to keep it organized, it ends up being the dumping ground for all things that need to be behind closed doors.  Anyone with me in solidarity?

Now, what you will see is a normal linen closet in a normal house with a normal family.  My home, family, and life does not look like a magazine picture, nor does my linen closet.  I’m here to show you how you, a normal person, can organize your linen closet to make you happy.  Without a lot of fuss or muss.  Do I wish my linen closet was BEAUTIFUL?  Sure.  But we have stuff, and organization is top priority!

As the saying goes… “A place for everything and everything in its place.”

Make a list of what you need in your linen closet.  Set up shelves or zones for each grouping.  Place the most used items in the easiest reach.

A linen closet standard… sheets and towels.

Did I mention that Hubby is a retired Green Beret?  We have two emergency lanterns, one emergency flashlight, and an emergency bag.  And that is just what is kept in the linen closet!

The first aid kit and meds are clearly marked in containers with pretty tags and ribbons.  If you look closely on the shelf above… yes, that is my “Poison Ivy Survival Kit.”

The goal is with clearly marked tags and boxes, that family members can not only easily find what they need, but then put it away in it’s correct place.  One can hope.

While you are cleaning out and organizing your linen closet, take inventory.  Go through your medicine to make sure nothing has expired.  Take inventory of your first aid kit to make sure you have what you need.  If you have old towels or sheets that you can’t re-purpose, donate them to an animal shelter.

My hope is that one of these days, I will find time to give the linen closet a fresh coat of paint.  #528 on my to-do list.

Love, hugs and enjoying everything in its place… for now!
