Finding the right measuring cups and spoons in “the drawer” has become the bane of my existence, so I decided to do something about it and come up with some great measuring cup organization. This idea is ALL OVER Pinterest and it was pretty easy to recreate.
The Surprise Find
The one thing… I didn’t want to have to free-hand or stencil all of the measurements, and especially the conversion chart. So guess where I found these vinyl decals? Give up?
JANE! I know right… Jane the home of adorable clothing and accessories – I lucked into this awesome decal. Etsy is another great place to find many different styles of these kinds of decals.
The decals took a second to figure out how to work, but once I did, I was rocking. I used one of those… ugh… what do you call them… flat plastic thingies for smoothing out icing on a cake… to make the decals stick and it worked like a charm.
I used both cabinet doors in the kitchen island to hold the conversion charts and measuring cups and spoons. Easy to find and easy to reach.
The DIY
I took 2 paint sticks, and spray painted them blue to match the decals. Next, I used 2 strips of Scotch double-sided mounting tape on each stick and attached small cup holder hooks.
The reason I doubled up on the tape was so the screw backs of the hooks didn’t go through the door, and the second layer of mounting tape gave it just enough depth.
I think visually, it would have been better to have the smaller measuring spoons at the top and the measuring cups on the bottom, but I use the measuring cups more, and function trumped design this time around.
Ahhhh… isn’t this the most beautiful thing to see…. organized and lined up and easy to find. Life is good, eh?

You are right in saying it is all over Pinterest. My two posts have been pinned over 200K times. Would you be willing to use my link in your post as the original creator of this idea? I would be super grateful. Thanks for your consideration.
Beckie
Hi Beckie – Wow, congratulations on all of those pins! When I did a search on Pinterest for “Measuring Cup Organization” I found a ton of identical ideas, but I was not familiar that you did this project too. I love your Roadkill Rescue blog and I know you are very creative! In case you weren’t aware, quite a few vendors on Etsy sell these charts too, so you may want to contact them as well for “stealing” your idea. Hugs, Holly
I love, love, love the vinyl decals!! What a smart idea to post them inside the spice cabinet or pantry door.
Hi Corinne – I am not talented enough to hand-paint them so I was happy to purchase them! Having never worked with vinyl before, it was tricky at first, but I got the hang of it quickly. Hugs, Holly
Such a great idea, Holly!
Hi Carol – Thanks so much! Hugs, Holly
Decals can be tricky, I agree. If I had cabinets near my counter space, this would be perfect. Instead I have a very organized drawer.
Hi Meghan – Organization is key, regardless of the system. Hugs, Holly

I have to relate that the measuring spoons and cups not being put back where they belong drives me batty too. Fab organizational idea you did here that impresses by looks and how you did it especially not creating a hole in the cabinet. I have to pin and share.
Hi Sue – It took a minute to figure out how I wanted to do it, but the mounting tape works well. Hugs, Holly
I have all of my cups and spoons in a drawer and it makes me crazy! I keep loosing my measuring spoons! I am not sure how, but I do. Having something like this would ensure that everything makes it to its proper place. Plus it looks great too!
Hi Cynthia – Those measuring spoons are so easy to loose! And when I put this together, somehow I ended up with 2 identical 1/2 cup measuring cups. Go figure. Hugs, Holly
wow love the look of it all organized what a smart idea thanks so much for sharing
Hi ARod – Thanks so much! Hugs, Holly
My measuring cups (all 3 sets) are stacked in a cupboard, where I also keep a drinking glass with the 4 sets of measuring spoons I have. Yes. I have a problem with acquiring measuring tools. I also have a problem with functional organization for them. I cook and bake almost everyday, and every time I reach into that cupboard, I get frustrated. I think I need to put your idea to work.
Hi Vegan Mother Hubbard who had so many measuring cups in the cupboard! 🙂 Thanks so much for visiting and commenting. I bet you could make each set a different color and display your collection absolutely beautifully. Hugs, Holly
Wow! That turned out awesome!! I still just throw my measuring cups and spoons in the drawer. My reasoning is that we’re moving soon. 😛
Hi Rachel – Thanks for stopping by and good luck with the move! Hugs, Holly

That is an awesome idea! I have the hardest time keeping up with measuring tools, we will so have to try this out. The trick is getting everyone to put them back when they are done! Thanks for linking up to Snickerdoodle Sunday.
Hi K&M – Yep and yep! Hugs, Holly
