Every Halloween party needs a side dish that is super easy to make and is always a crowd-pleaser. Spooky colors and themes are a bonus. This Halloween Pasta Salad fits the bill.
In some circles, it’s politics.
In my circle, nothing divides a Facebook friendship like a legume. They are so innocent, yet banned from most of the top nutrition protocols. So if you are Whole30 or Paleo or AIP, legumes are off-limits. Sorry.
I’m a girl who loves my comfort food and still wants to enjoy some gluten-free pasta once in a while. Typically, your choice of pasta is made with either rice flour or with legumes. And many gluten-free pastas are filled with additives and processed ingredients.
My favorite brands of gluten-free pasta are Tolerant Simply and Cybele, which I get from Thrive Market. They are made with ONLY whole food ingredients and have zero additives. I’m loving these legume-based pastas. I also love Primal Kitchen’s Italian Dressing, which you can purchase at Thrive Market too.
Vegan cheeses come in all shapes and sizes these days. The traditional pasta salad adds mozzarella, but you can easily substitute your favorite vegan cheese to keep it dairy-free.

Halloween Pasta Salad Recipe

Gluten Free with Vegan Option
- 1 Box Tolerant Simply Legumes Organic Black Bean Pasta
- 1 Box Cybele Purple Pasta
- 20 Cherry or Grape Tomatoes approx - you can also use one "box" if your store packages them this way.
- 1 Zucchini
- 1 Green Pepper
- 8 oz Vegan or Real Mozzarella Cheese
- 1 bottle Italian Dressing We love Primal Kitchen!
- 6 Sliced Olives
Cook each box of pasta separately, according to their directions. You don't want to cook them together, as the colors will bleed.
In the meantime, cut the tomatoes in half.
Drain the pasta, and let cool.
In a large bowl, combine all of the ingredients except for the olives and stir together gently.
Top with sliced olives.
Keep refrigerated when not eating.
