I know you want to jump right in, but please first review the warnings and precautions.

Warnings and Precautions

While everyone should exercise precautions when using EOs, there are four populations who should be extra careful:

  • Women who are pregnant or nursing
  • Babies
  • The elderly
  • Pets.

Pregnant women should AVOID cinnamon, clove, rosemary, clary sage, hyssop, fennel, birch, and wintergreen. With infants, introduce one oil at a time, and it’s best to diffuse rather than using topically. When using topically, always be sure to use in conjunction with a carrier oil, in small doses, and sparingly. And because we can’t forget our four-legged-friends, please AVOID these oils with your pets – birch, clove, oregano, tea tree, thyme, and wintergreen.

Always practice safety when using Essential Oils, especially with young children. Essential Oils are extremely concentrated and when used incorrectly, can have negative effects on kids. General safety recommendations include diffusing oils, not using on or near the face, and always pairing with a carrier oil when using directly on the skin. Also, when using on the skin, be sure to do a patch test and STOP all use if any kind of discomfort occurs.

Best Essential Oils for Immune Support

There are so many great Essential Oils out there that may help with immune support. DO NOT USE ALL OF THESE AT ONCE! I’m simply giving you a list of the top ones and then will share my own personal recipes below.

Cinnamon (or Cinnamon Bark)

Clove

Eucalyptus

Frankincense

Lavender

Lemon

Oregano

Rosemary

Tea Tree

Thieves (more info below)

Thyme

The Clean Ingredients in Thieves

Thieves® essential oil is a powerful combination of Clove, Lemon, Cinnamon, Eucalyptus Radiata, and Rosemary essential oils for an aromatic blend that fills any space with a rich, spicy aroma. According to several studies in the NCBI, cinnamon, clove, and rosemary essential oils were found to contain the strongest antibacterial properties, including against E. coli.

The Thieves Backstory

During the Black Plague of the 16th century, a band of thieves were caught and brought before the King. These thieves had been breaking into homes of plague victims but had not caught the highly contagious disease and the King wanted to know why.  The thieves came from a line of apothecaries and used this mixture of oils rubbed all over their bodies to keep them from contracting this deadly disease. The King then used these oils to prevent himself and his family from the plague.

So if it’s good enough for the Black Plague, it’s good enough for the dirt of today, don’t you agree?

Why the Feet

Applying Essential Oils to the feet is recommended because the feet are among the fastest absorbing places in the body.

You can also apply to the neck and/or behind the ears. But I like to use these blends specifically on the feet.

Supplies Needed

Carrier oil such as Jojoba or a good quality EVOO.

Roller Bottle

1-2 drops of Essential Oils per ounce. So if your container is 4oz, you will want a total of 4-8 drops of Essential Oils.

Immune Support Day Foot Roller DIY

Remove the ball (there’s a tool for that!). Fill your roller bottle halfway with a carrier oil.

Add the Essential Oils below. Don’t forget – use 1-2 drops total per ounce as a guideline.

Fill almost to the top with the carrier oil.

Replace the ball and cap and ensure it’s on tight.

Give the container a quick “roll” between your palms before using (rather than shaking it).

Apply to the bottom of your feet.

Wearing socks after applying the oils is optional but recommended.

I like the following oils for the day time for their energizing properties.

Use equal parts:

  • Cinnamon or Clove
  • Lemon
  • Oregano
  • Rosemary
  • Thieves.

Immune Support Night Foot Roller DIY

Our family calls this blend “Sleepy Feet.”

I like the following oils for the night time for their calming properties, hence why we call it Sleepy Feet.
