Does Elf on the Shelf go against the Christian faith? That’s certainly up to your and your beliefs. But EOTS can be used in fun and creative ways to help teach children that Jesus is the reason for the season. If you are looking for alternates to the traditional elf pranks, here are 10 great faith-based ideas that will help your children to embrace the Bible and the magic of the season.
Some Christians do not participate in EOTS or look for alternatives. That’s cool. Some like to incorporate ways to use EOTS to teach children about the real message and magic of the season. That’s cool too. Hey, you know me. This is a zero judgment zone.
Children love to play and they love make-believe. If your heart is good and you are teaching them good values, then by all means… elf away! And hey… there’s nothing wrong with a few elf pranks too along the way!
We actually never purchased Elf on the Shelf. When my husband was little, his family had an elf as the tree topper. And now it’s ours! This 50+-year-old elf is smaller and creepier than the modern EOTS. He doesn’t have hands – they are glued together. And he is certainly well-loved. Stepson is now a teenager and our little EOTS still really creeps him out. It’s hilarious to watch. I have no shame.
I’ve curated 5 faith-based EOTS ideas from some of my favorite bloggers, and 5 more fun ideas from Pinterest. Which one is your favorite?
