Baby, it’s cold outside! Whether it’s cold or snowing, winter is here for the duration. It’s the season to get your hygge on and snuggle in and hibernate. Here are the top 10 ways to be cozy this winter.
I could live under my blanket and binge watch Netflix all winter long. Seriously. Me. The fire. My blanket. My pug. Some hot chocolate. Some popcorn. And lots of Netflix and Hulu.
If it wasn’t for the fact that Vitamin D, especially in the winter is so good for you, and totally gross for my pug Hannibal to potty in the house, I would never go outside. Where we live, the days are short, the sky is gray, and it’s either snowing or a cold rain or just downright cold and miserable outside.
So guess what?!? It’s time to channel your inner hygge and get warm and snuggly. Here are the top 10 ways to be cozy this winter!
Top 10 Ways to be Cozy This Winter
1. Create a Bucket List
Whether they are indoor or outdoor activities, creating a winter bucket list is a fun way to get through the coldest months of the year. It gives you something to look forward to when the winter blues hit hard.
2. Embrace Winter Scents
Cool winter hikes, freshly fallen snow, cozy fireplaces, warm cocoa… what are your favorite scents of winter? I love to diffuse Essential Oils in winter scents, and also burn my favorite non-toxic candles. It helps your home to embrace the cozy of the season.
3. Cozy Up with Hot Chocolate
It’s not officially winter time until the hot cocoa is made. Instead of pouring a mix from a box, why don’t you try a different hot chocolate recipe each day and see which one you like the best? Fire, puppy, blanket, and Netflix are required, of course.
4. Pamper Your Skin
Your skin wants to be cozy this winter too! The harsh winter weather (and more hand washing) can lead your skin looking less than stellar. Pamper your skin and enjoy that all-natural glow from within.
It’s no longer about how many hours a night you should sleep, you should be concerned with how restorative your sleep is. And winter is time for some serious hibernation! Your bedroom should be your sanctuary. Turn it into a sleeping oasis.
6. Turn Your Home into a Wellness Retreat
Stressed to the max? Going stir crazy being inside? How nice would it be to create your home environment to feel like a wellness retreat? Calm. Mindful. Serene. Zen. Ahhhhh…. there’s no place like home.
7. Boost Your Immunity
Ok, ok. So technically eating heathy and boosting your immunity isn’t exactly cozy. BUT… there is no room for cozy when you are sick. Eating immune-boosting foods might aid you in fighting off common illnesses that we all become susceptible to especially during those long winter months. It’s time to get your immune system in tip-top shape.
8. Write in Your Journal
Journal about self-love. Because self-love is arguably the most important love that you can have. There may be plenty of days during the winter months that you feel down and need a big ole dose of self-esteem pick-me-up.
9. Don’t be SAD
The official title is Seasonal Affective Disorder. Shortened, calling it SAD is not lost on the irony. Too much time inside, cold, gray winter months, and the post-holiday let down. The winter blues hit so many of us. Create a plan ahead of time to combat SAD.
10. Manifest Gratitude
After the holiday season, it’s easy to fall into the winter blues when life goes back to normal after all of the holiday craziness and (depending on where you live) the weather turns gray and dreary. Don’t try and force a smile to fake your way out of it. While you can’t always change your reality, you can change how you react. Manifesting a winter of gratitude is a great way to begin!
