I love wisteria – who doesn’t – but until you learn how to contain wisteria, it will overtake your garden. Here’s a great idea!
I thought I knew how to contain wisteria. I thought that all you needed to do was cut it back so it wouldn’t grow so much. I have since learned that the roots not only grow extremely invasive, but will also pop up on the other side of your yard. Hence – proceed with caution if you want wisteria to be a part of your life.
So how do you contain wisteria? In a container. In a big container. I wanted something fast growing to climb the pergola and give the deck some shade. Thanks to a consult with a landscape consultant, he suggested uprooting our wisteria and transplanting in a container on the deck.
We still have to watch it and direct it and ensure it grows where we want it to grow. But the roots are contained, and that is the biggest challenge.
Wisteria is so beautiful, and I love a climbing vine.
Reach for the sky, wisteria, reach for the sky.
Love, hugs, and enjoying just a little invasive wisteria in my life.
