How Hubby’s Beard Happened
I will be completely honest with you. I never gave beards a second thought. I mean, there’s Santa Claus and Pappa Smurf and the whole Hipster and Lumber Jack movement. And everyday guys sporting beards, of course.
They were just never on my radar. I didn’t have an opinion on them one way or another.
It was something other dudes did.
And then the whole “situation” happened in Spring 2020.
My clean-shaven, hair-off-neck, buzz-cut, military-standard-appearance husband…
GREW. A. BEARD.
At first, he said he was protesting. (I’m like… seriously honey… you are protesting a virus? Who are you and what did you do with my husband?)
But then it grew in.
And I will be completely honest with you again.
I kinda fell in love with it.
But now we needed to figure out how to maintain it.
What is Beard Oil?
Beard oil is used to keep the beard soft and smooth, along with keeping the skin soft underneath. It also helps to keep the beard manageable for grooming, and in good condition.
This DIY version uses all-natural ingredients and is super easy to make. It’s also much easier on the dollars and budget to make your own!
Some oils can go rancid over time so I always like using Jojoba oil for anything of my skin or beauty DIYs. It’s the most versatile carrier oil for this purpose. Argan oil is another great beauty oil to keep on hand for your beauty DIYs. If you have both, it is recommended to mix them together for this DIY. If you only have one, then use the one you have.

Beard Oil Ingredients
I’m sharing my favorite essential oils to use for this recipe. But let your man pick and choose his favorite oils to use for the scent you both love and enjoy!
Cedarwood + Orange
Pine + Bergamot
A few drops of Frankincense are always good to add too!
and/or Argan Oil
Beard Oil DIY
Fill the bottle 3/4 full with one or both carrier oils. You can use a 50/50 blend but it doesn’t have to be exact. I always use a small funnel because otherwise, it gets a little messy.
Add the Essential Oils. I always recommend 2 drops per ounce because they are so concentrated, but you can go up to 5-10 drops per ounce for this recipe.
Mix and match with your favorite scents.
Fill up to almost the top with your carrier oil.
Put the cap on and be sure to label the bottle.
Before using, give it a little rub in your palms to mix it up.

How to Use Beard Oil
Beard oil is soooo easy to use!
Be sure to give it a quick rub between your palms to mix up the oils.
After your shower or washing your face, place a few drops of the beard oil in your palm – about the size of a nickel. Rub it on your hands and then rub it all over your beard.
You can use this daily.
